Consumers Union website stated: ...the Agricultural Appropriations Conference Committee voted to weaken the organic label. The decision to allow chemically derived ingredients — some without careful, independent review — was made even after members of Congress heard from more than 325,000 of their constituents and more than 200 organic companies opposing this very action...
Personally, I purchase organically grown food so as to keep as many chemicals out of my body as possible. The whole purpose of having Organic Foods is so health conscious people can be sure they are buying food that is actually safe for their system.
A sad decision. Write your Rep.
These past couple of weeks my Elsophia crew and I have been joining the art night scene.
Last Tuesday night we headed out to the Whitney Museum’s Annual Art Ball. Everyone remarked how fabulous it was.
Thursday we went to a few gallery openings. Now this was a real treat for me since normally I don't attend very many openings only because my schedule is usually so booked. If you've never been to a gallery opening in the city, NYC has the highest concentration of emerging artists anywhere. Why? Artists seem to think that this is the place to be "discovered." I happen to believe that's not true with the technologies and communication tools available. Real talent will be discovered no matter where the artist resides.
This weekend I'll finally be seeing the Van Gogh exhibit of his art on paper- the largest ever!
It has recently been brought to my attention that there is an entire website lurking in cyber space by one of my "fans" dedicated to yours truly. I guess you really aren't somebody until someone forms a website explicitly to try to ruin your reputation. There are many disenfranchising comments made about me on the internet, even directly to me via email. But a 'special' website is a newly formed key publicity tool for these people. Well, I guess it all comes with the territory.
There are many psychos out there. I have experienced my share. Exactly the reason I no longer allow just anyone to enter my studio. And why we have 24-hour security and cameras all around (which, by the way, I enjoy watching more than direct tv on a wide screen). Anybody dreaming about the fame of success should think twice about the chaos and everything the spotlight might bring to their lives.
Life in Texas is so laid back. After taking the cross-country trip this year, I began thinking that American life is very different from New York City life. Now I am absolutely convinced of this theory.
We spent the weekend chit-chatting, gossiping, then the conversation turned back to business (as it usually does). Swapping marketing ideas and firing staff techniques- jokingly of course.

On the way to check in at the airport I had a huge gift bag of beauty products from my friend's mom's company. Well, I didn't want to check in a bag so I had to disperse them throughout my carry-ons. Meanwhile the security lady was all over the soaps smelling them and asking if they sell at Foley (??) which I later learned is equivalent to Neiman Marcus/Nordstrom.
Anyway, I finally got whatever I could into the bags... and so there where a few soaps leftover. I gave the rest of them to the one security officer and she's like oh no I couldn't possibly take them..."Let me mail them to you".. I said "You're so sweet- no keep them." She was ecstatic. THEN the other officer jumped on the bag too.. Meanwhile a VERY long line had formed and this guy's face that was next on line was turning beet red... hope no one missed their flight!
That was my evening at DFW. I didn't realize how badly I needed to get away until this morning when I woke up. Always generous folks- thank you! Love u guys.
