Van Gogh @ The Met
Van Gogh Art on Paper at the Metropolitan Museum of Art
Finally got to see the exhibit this Sunday. The museum exhibition of his art on paper is the first ever of this scale. Highly, highly recommended. Even if you have to fly here. The halls where really crowded. Luckily I usually tower over everyone.
When I first saw Van Gogh's work it didn't really appeal to me. But then again I was very young. One of my artist friends, a lover of his work and who was taught under the granddaughter of a man who was one of Van Gogh's students, began teaching me about his work. We went to see several exhibits over a few years. Over time as I learned about his art I began understanding it.
Now I am practically addicted to the works. As soon as we left I felt a need to go back and look again. Just an insatiable thirst for viewing and taking it all in.
