Well, that wraps this year up!
I'm signing off of cyberland for now. Hope everyone has a great rest of the year. And remember to sit up straight and chew with your mouths closed.
See you next year :)
Went out to Bungalow 8 yesterday evening with my bff from LA. She came to visit and do some auditions here in the city. Unlike the majority of other inspirers, she's happened to snag a few roles and was even on last season's Fear Factor.
The last time I honored the lounge was the previous summer. We were standing around when this hot Texan Mama says her father's the president. We were all impressed thinking we'd get drinks on her since they owned the place. As it turned out "daddy" was the President of the United States and they were here for the republican convention.
I've frequently run into the Bush family in places you'd least expect. I met George Bush senior in the Aviation Club in Dubai. A posh sporting club and in the U.A.E. when they say upscale they really, really mean it. Although the Emirates natives are quite hospitable, it's always nice to see another American when on foreign soil. It makes you feel home and you immediately bond. However, this was a superficial casual greeting type of thing with the ex-Pres.
Went out to an event on Saturday evening in South Hampton for a family friend of Abe's from back home. It was one of those functions that required an outfit that necessitated an all over body microdermabrasion [acronym required]. As soon as we got there I saw someone else wearing the $4000 Versace. I immediately wanted to leave but Abe wouldn't let me. Anyway, the dress is going on eBay as soon as I'm finished writing this. (Ladies email me for the link)
The evening ended sometime Sunday morning. Driving back, much in a stupor, we went onto the highway going in the wrong direction. This only happened to me one other time about 3 years ago.
New Yorkers must buy homes in Long Island to get out of their sardine cans on the weekends. I understand that. And none of them really know where New Jersey is- which by the way is much, much closer.
So please do take car service if your going out that way. The roads are very confusing especially when you're barely awake.
Have a really happy Monday!
There was a preview screening of the film in Tel Aviv. Although some "facts" were made up in the film, I suppose to make the movie more attractive, it is after all, an interpretation of an artist- Spielberg that is.
Which is worse, walking into IPOD junkies or drug addicted uptight urban dwellers?
If you're like any normal New Yorker trying to get somewhere you're probably already late to pretty fast, you put on your motor legs and walk 100 miles an hour.
It snowed about 10" in a few hours this morning. So everyone was slipping all over the place as it was. But 'tis the season for tourists to be looking at holiday lights and contributing to sidewalk traffic- in case you don't know, we have traffic jams on the street and sidewalks in NYC. So I'm trying to get to a dinner date and BOOM an IPOD junkie walks smack right into me. Luckily the coffee spilled on her coat and not mine.
And no I didn't get an apology. Just some rolling of the eyes. I didn't expect one either. So as I usually do continued on my merry way.
Brrrrrrr... it's so cold that-
my paintings just won't dry! See I work in layers- layer over layer over layer and so on. I actually need space heaters on my art so they could dry in a respectable amount of time. But they're still taking an unreasonable amount of time. I only have 4 heaters; that's like 1 to every 5 pieces.
Anyway, this next Spring I'll be keeping warm inside an NYU lecture hall taking none other than a writing class! Abe and I have been working on our new movies productions company. Although Abe is already in the field, the film industry is new to me. Besides a few drama classes and some plays, my CV is pretty much devoid of any such experience. I promise to keep you posted!
I've been really busy lately. Seems my commissions all come in around this time of year.
We went to the premier of Oprah Winfrey's, "The Color Purple" last Thursday. Friday & Saturday to holiday parties. Sunday a family get together. And this week we'll be attending some more events around town. Very, very busy.
Some major changes are headed in the way of El Sophia Gallery. In addition to the grand opening of the public showroom, major changes will be made to the online business, esp. in regards to the auctions. Keep up to date by joining the emailing list: http://www.elsophia.com/contact
