Autumn in NY
Summer is over. And romance is dead.
So begins a new art year for me.
Got back to the city late afternoon and headed straight for Bombay Kitchen on MacDougal to get my dose of samosa chaat- a yummy vegetarian platter. If you love spicy Indian food this is the place to get it. The owner herself is usually there putting together the meals (they don't cook on premises=no smell) so it's always made right.
A Painting A Day
Art aficionados everywhere will attest to their addiction to these blogs. If you haven't heard, then read the press.
Last year I spent most of my time on artwork for galleries. When i made the announcement that i would no longer be making artwork for auctions, I didn't know what a ruckus i'd be causing. (I received a few really angry, very scary emails.) Which is a good thing I suppose.
As many professional artists do, each day before i begin working on my originals, i paint experimental or "warm-up" paintings. I am one of those artists that gets the jitters when i approach an important piece i'm working on. I create many of these paintings and just leave them lying around or hang them up for inspiration. This year i am planning on offering them for sale. will try to have one everyday and you can expect the styles to range from my typical realist works to spontaneous abstracts. All depends on my mood that day. New works will be announced in the email list (www.elsophia.com).
New Website
The new website is almost ready. We're still uploading files and fixing a few things.. but the overall look is what you see now. The catalogue will be back once all the artwork is uploaded. I have new blogging software that will allow me to upload my pictures and videos(?) more easily.
Autumn in New York
I began taking my reference photos for a new body of work from the Everyday Life Series which I'll call Autumn in NY. Once i learn how to upload into this blog i'll put them online for you.
Have a lovely Fall day!
