gallery- just got back from seeing the new gallery space mark picked out in culver city and it is gorgeous.. but it's lacking a little thing called art :) word is getting around very quickly. thanks for all the great art submissions!

chinatown film festival received an email from one of the organizers of the new chinatown film festival. support burgeoning filmmakers by sponsoring an event

i hate driving. no i didn't emphasize that enough. i really, really don't like driving. over the weekend we were invited to a wedding. so i dropped my dry cleaning off in beverly hills or santa monica or whatever. it took me 2 hours to find the place again which was located right on la cienega- the same street i've had my studio for the past couple of years. i miss my cabbies.

mark, a couple of local artists and i are going around the galleries. spacious enough to make most nyc museums green with envy. ok maybe not. it's funny driving everywhere to get to exhibits. i'm so used to the normal orgy of building residents crammed on top of and into eachother and unbridled liquor guzzlers. isn't that how it's supposed to be? smoke and blow. oops did i say that out loud? my neighborhood is just as bad. the homes here are at least 10 feet apart.

digital narcism- the society we have become. my studio or it's officially a project space now, will be up and running after the holidays. i'm trying to make it as claustrophobic as possible- you know to get a sense of home. cameras will be installed on opening nights for everyone to see. not sure yet how that plays out with la law. so many "crowds" rules here.

i'll be back to ny in a few weeks for new year's.

my last post caused an uproar.

sitting outside our building on the park side, we decided to hop on the M1 and take it from e69th as far as it would go. i hadn't been on a bus in years and doubt abe's ever taken one. funny, we didn't know how to pay. so abe pulls out a handful of crsip bills to give the driver and he just looks up at us: "you need a card." pardonenme. so pulled out the amex. "the mta card." huh? i guess the innocent confusion on our faces got us some sympathy. we got a free bus ride down 5th and across to the east village. nice guy. not to make a waste of a trip we sat for an afghan dinner at khyber pass.

i have an obscene amount of work to get through today. the sun is beaming and it's very cold.

never. ever. in my life have i thought i would speak these words: i'm leaving ny.

well, in a few weeks i'll be packing it up and moving out (not literally, everything will stay the same here). for about a year. will be visiting every month.

now the pressure is on to find a larger art studio in culver city, or maybe west hollywood. weho has a spanking new arts district. the problem's always the same- it's not new york.

ny to la. and at least i have my friends who left and forgot to come back. but i won't forget.

movie preview

november movie preview thank you for the comments from the "excellent" to the "what would make me go see it?" well, it's art people! just wait. you'll see.

new works uploading

today or tomorrow. in customary elsophia fashion, we're a year late posting online. i don't work on canvas as much anymore so for anyone who's asked, these are the last few available.

bronx artist studio visits

yesterday we went out to the bronx to visit with artists. lucky, lucky them.. the best view of the city, sunset, jfk and water i have ever seen. i'm not quite sure where the building is located but i do know you take the #6 to get there. if you're an artist who can work outside of the city visit this artist's quarter. live/work lofts- 2 lovely words together. it's unbelievable how fast someone will ask you to remove your clothing so they can draw/paint/get inspired by you. just keep your clothes on.

the owner of the building, bill who lives in westchester and has a comprehensive peace plan for the middle-east, was there looking over the construction of his other buildings in the area. politics and religion are taboo topics. and they are the only things i will discuss. and art. i think everyone senses i'm about to lose my mind. they were talking real slow.

emergency city escape.. we're going to fire island for the weekend. have a good one.
