i hate driving. no i didn't emphasize that enough. i really, really don't like driving. over the weekend we were invited to a wedding. so i dropped my dry cleaning off in beverly hills or santa monica or whatever. it took me 2 hours to find the place again which was located right on la cienega- the same street i've had my studio for the past couple of years. i miss my cabbies.
mark, a couple of local artists and i are going around the galleries. spacious enough to make most nyc museums green with envy. ok maybe not. it's funny driving everywhere to get to exhibits. i'm so used to the normal orgy of building residents crammed on top of and into eachother and unbridled liquor guzzlers. isn't that how it's supposed to be? smoke and blow. oops did i say that out loud? my neighborhood is just as bad. the homes here are at least 10 feet apart.
digital narcism- the society we have become. my studio or it's officially a project space now, will be up and running after the holidays. i'm trying to make it as claustrophobic as possible- you know to get a sense of home. cameras will be installed on opening nights for everyone to see. not sure yet how that plays out with la law. so many "crowds" rules here.
i'll be back to ny in a few weeks for new year's.
