lapd sucks they really are worse than you see on tv. on saturday night we had a celebration of sorts in my old studio for mark's new, um, job. he's in film now but it's not actually rated pg you know. at some point i suppose we got too loud with live bands and contrabands and there must have been a singular person in the neighborhood. if you've never been to culver city: how do i describe it? except for the rampant city traffic that exists around the clock in los angeles, the very industrial section is desolate after 6pm. i mean there's not a soul in the buildings. the residences only begin after jefferson and we're on la cienega. so whoever this evil person was ended our festivities not-so-early.

back in nyc last night i had dinner with an art critic/writer from indianapolis who spoke of how insular the market is there (really, worse than ny?). hoosier is forever connected to politics for me. and i got the look of death when i called him that. while actually a native of ny i just wanted to use the word hoosier. use it 3 times..

not much planned today. maybe filming. speaking of, i have a new clip of a cabbie running me over on youtube.com/elsophia

cold out now. and i'm going for a run.
have a nice day.

there are prints available as well. and more art will be listed in the coming weeks. i'll be in los angeles finishing up in the studio and giving a lecture. there are some paintings available if you're interested drop me a line.

i know i've said this before (many times) but we're very busy and behind on plans. things should be getting back on track soon-ish :) also, there should be a link to this on the contact page : artist submissions

it's gorgeous in nyc. have a lovely day.

ART + PRINTS: we've been receiving 'complaints' about the art section. my art is mostly sold through galleries, mine being the first stop. but we have a new site to sell studies and other work. there's alot laying around so we'll be listing them online in the coming weeks: elsophia.com/studio

shameless politics

Last month this blog received over 3500 visitors from Pennsylvania alone. we all know what next tuesday is. and i know you're registered. so you know what to do :)

letter from michael moore on Obama: "What we are witnessing is not just a candidate but a profound, massive public movement for change. My endorsement is more for Obama The Movement than it is for Obama the candidate.. That is not to take anything away from this exceptional man. But what's going on is bigger than him at this point, and that's a good thing for the country." read it here

as someone who watched the towers collapse in plain view, not knowing if family and/or friends were in those buildings, and in retrospect of clinton's and the republicans' (i can't believe i wrote her name in the same sentence with them, but she earned it) fear mongering ads and smear tactics against obama's supposedly sympathizing with 60's radicals--  in the eloquent words of our mayor bloomberg:

what terrorists? get a life.

psychodrama what is it that people see in hillary clinton? [rhetorical] carl bernstein from 360: "What will a Hillary Clinton presidency look like? The answer by now seems obvious: It will look like her presidential campaign.." A 3-ring circus? cnn article

thanks for all the nice comments about my art. i should get back into the habit of uploading new artwork. it's very time consuming. even though i don't do anything to list per se but still getting out of the way is difficult.

the new artwork will be listed online and i'll make limited editions available. the originals will probably be exhibited somewhere in the fall. working 'small' is hard for me.

next week i'll be in florida filming. and hopefully enjoying warm weather. although the weather hasn't been so bad in nyc.

have a good weekend.

site is up and running. our programmers are good like that.

somehow the sanctity of art is lost on abe. saturday night on our way to a dinner party in chelsea decided to take him to see jonathan levine's new exhibit. taking a hard-core business guy to chat over art never works. it reminded me of the time we went to a benefit at the guggenheim museum. we stroll into a room which ominously displayed a minimalist light installation. abe walked in and yelled, "where's the art?"

never holding back. there's no small talk with the cowboys. usually just delve into conversation that migrates from politics to religion to just plain dirty talk. depending on the level of sobriety.

promised someone i met i'd mention her website: Falun Dafa. she escaped persecution and came to america. you may have seen them demonstrating around the city, esp. in front of the AP building.

new paintings coming up next..

  • new artwork will be posted online and available for viewing on wooster st
  • we're moving into a temporary, extra large studio location that will double as a filming studio (maybe in dumbo?) for some projects we're working on until about the end of the year. its funny but i feel this year is over aleady with a ridiculously busy schedule
  • we're having 2 other 'unofficial' film screenings of the new documentary this weekend and next if you'd like to attend email/rsvp
  • artist submissions are being reviewed and we're exhibiting some already. it's working out so the plan is to make it more public in 2009 with increased viewing hours and additional artists
  • i'll be in l.a. later this month to give a lecture and clean out my studio. the lease is up and i'll be too busy in ny to give it the attention it deserves.

back in israel, i was busy campaigning for obama, which didn't take much effort. hillary has gone over the deep end with her distasteful campaigning. and it's time to put an end to the mess.

so i'll be joining the campaign trail behind the scenes. my resume isn't completely devoid of campaiging experience. i worked for florio (he lost to EPA whitman) and 2x for bill clinton. that went better.

and i have already been called "evil" on foxnews. so that's a good sign. just waiting on rush limbaugh to do the same. rush the supposed coservative living in nyc. sure. not saying there are no republicans here. maybe just closeted ones. even bloomberg left the gop.

Obama is under scrutiny and much of the "facts" get blown out of proportion. listen to jeremiah wright's sermon in its entirety on roland martin's (from cnn 360) blog.

Also, MoveOn.org is having a contest called Obama in 30 seconds. If you'd like to enter go here: obamain30seconds.org

i've decided to leave comments on blog.. see how that works out. i get emails and have no idea what people are talking about.

if you're coming to our film screening tonight, well, then see you there :)
